My name is Aneta Derzynska, from beginning of June 2010 I make the European Voluntary Service (EVS) with "Theater der Unterdrückten-Wien". My service will last 12 month. I am Polish, but I lived most of my life in Italy, where I studied Education and Pedagogy. In Milan I was a social worker, I attended some youth exchange (EU funded) that gave me the opportunity to experience Theatre of the Oppressed.

In this way, I fell passionately in love with TO! The book of Paolo Freire "Pedagogy of the Oppressed" helped me as well

I decided to come to Vienna to discover and deepen this passion. I am very curious to learn more about the association, the people who collaborate, events and training, organizing workshops.

My expectations from this experience?

I would like to learn the German language, and discover Vienna, the people of Vienna, I ride the bike through the streets. I would also try to join a theatre group, to understand what it means to be part of the group, how to develop trust between people in the long time.
I was also very curious to see the DanceAbility workshops, how it's possible to work with people with different disabilities. I would like to know the people who are part of the association, working with them, find out what led them on the road to theatre.

I believe that EVS is a great opportunity for me to develop my interest in TO, to discover a new culture and above all to discover myself.
